For art lovers and adventure seekers these are the world most common and ingenious sculpture designs that have seen places with a steep growth in tourists. The sculptures are  great, huge and some have lived for ages. It is my pleasure to present to you the world’s greatest statues.

The thinker was conceived in 1880 with its original size as 70 cm. it was crowned the element of the gates of hell seated at the tympanum. The thinker was also known as the poet and he represented Dante as it leans forward to observe the circles of hell. This thinking sculpture lost in thoughts with a powerful body is famous and has attracted more poets and art lovers worldwide after its exhibition in 1888 and numerous casts of it exist worldwide.

This is the tallest female statue in the world located in Russia and it commemorates the bloody battle of Stalingrad that lasted for 5 months 1 week and 3 days, it as well marks Russia’s moment of triumph over the Axis powers in world war ll.  The sculpture stands at a height of 172 feet from the ground with one hand raising a sword and the other hand stretched out in a welcoming form.

 Located in Leshan China is the Leshan Giant Buddha that is 233 feet tall and is the largest stone statue of Buddha in the world. The statue was constructed between 713 AD and 803 AD. The statue is huge that falling debris from it has made the river around it to change its course. The sculpture is now estimated to be as old as 1,217 years.

This is an ancient Greek sculpture and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculptures. The statue represents the Greek goddess of love and beauty who was known to the Romans as Venus. The first thing to notice on the sculpture is that both arms are missing and one part of the hands is taller than the other however it is still a mystery on how the sculpture lost its arms with some people believing the arms were missing during the time it was found while other theories mention that the sculpture lost its limbs as it was being transported. The sculpture stands at 6 feet and 7 inches from head to toe and is currently located in Louvre museum.

This was a gift from France to the people of the United States of America. A national symbol of freedom designed in cooper representing the country’s tolerance to immigrants and a piece of hope. The statue is Located at the Liberty Island Manhattan New York city. The sculpture is 303 feet from the ground level and it was modeled after the Roman goddess Liberty I guess that is where it derives its name.

The Moai statues are many and located at the Easter Island, the sculptures are considered to be guardians by the locals. The locals state that the statues represent spirits of ancestors or high ranking males that help important positions in the history of Easter Island. The island has close to 900 Moai sculptures and for the best fun it would require you 5 days as you get lost in the history of the Easter Island.

Christ the Redeemer is an artistic statue of Jesus Christ in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, created by Polish-French sculptor Paul Landowski. It is 38 meters tall standing on top of mountain Corcovado with its hands open stretching 28 meters. The area sees a growing number of Christian tourists’ every day with the sculpture being listed among the Seven Wonders of the World.

The great sphinx of Giza is a lion body with a human head sculpture. The sculpture was constructed as a guard for important areas such as tombs and temples. The most noticeable thing on the great sphinx of Giza sculpture is its lack of a nose and it’s where about are unknown. The sculpture is 73 meters long and 20 meters high located in Giza Egypt, though it has greatly deteriorated over the years mainly due to erosion it is still a wonderful place to visit.

Located in Copenhagen the sculpture of the little mermaid is the smallest attraction there is. It is only 4 feet tall and sits on the Langeline cruise harbor. The little mermaid is the most famous tourist attraction in Denmark and one of the most photographed statues in the world. The statue was however derived from a fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson but currently the rock where the sculpture sits holds a copy of it after multiple attacks towards the sculpture by different groups of people had become a thing in the past.

This is a colossal statue at 500 ft. tall, it can be seen clearly from a far but a journey to reach it will take some days. The statue represents Vairocana Buddha located in the Zhaocun township of Lushan County, Henan China, built from 1997 to 2008. The statue is tall to the extent that a single toe is at the same height as a fully grown human.

A dedication to India’s iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a statue that was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is located along the banks of river Narmada in Kevadiya town of Gujarat’s Narmada district. Statue of unity is 597 feet tall rising 97 ft. beyond the Spring Temple Buddha making it the tallest statue in the world.

Located in Jatayu Nature Park is the largest bird sculpture in the world sitting on 15,000 square feet and rising as high as 70 feet above ground. The eagle was sculptured by Rajiv Anchal while lying on its back and spreading its wings all over. This was an imagination come true for the sculptor and it was not just a tourist attraction to him but rather a way to look at wild life and humans coexisting with each other.

 

As I wind up I won’t forget to mention that a new statue was born in in Beirut after a blast that claimed a number of lives and caused a great sum of damages in the month of August 2020. The statue is a representation of liberty for the people of Lebanon. The statue is of a lady and is made from the debris that was left behind after the explosion with a clock at its base stopped at the exact time the explosion happened. The statue was given the name “Liberty Lady” by the artists who designed it.
